Westbrook and Harden’s friendship is no secret. The two superstars were drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder and spent their rookie years together.
Coincidentally, their sole trip to the Finals till now has also been together when the OKC faced the Miami Heat in 2012. Harden was crowned the 6th man of the year during his time with Bordie in OKC.
Harden’s stint in Oklahoma didn’t last long as the 3x scoring champion was traded to the Houston Rockets as the team and Harden failed to negotiate a contract.
Both the superstars’ journeys took separate routes. However, they always managed to keep their friendship. They managed to carve their own niche in the league, winning multiple individual accolades. Both Harden and Westbrook became league MVPs one after the other.
Recently, when The Beard turned 32, Westbrook gifted him a luxury watch. The former took to social media to appreciate the gift and thanked his former teammate.
Russell Westbrook gifts James Harden a Richard Mille watch
Harden, who turned 32 recently, received a special birthday gift from his close friend and former teammate Russell Westbrook. The two scoring machines, who played the initial years of their careers together in OKC, had reunited for a season in Houston.
However, things didn’t go as planned as the LA Lakers eliminated the Houston Rockets in the western conference semi-finals.
One of the major reasons for the Rockets’ ouster was Westbrook’s disappointing performance, especially his shooting. Bordie was a dismal 25.9% from the 3-point line and 53.8% from the free-throw line.
In the 2020-21 off-season, Westbrook was traded to the Washington Wizards, while Harden would force his way of Houston. There were reports of a major conflict between the two former MVPs, with reports of Westbrook being miffed with Harden’s special treatment. However, the two vehemently denied the reports calling them fabricated.
Recently, during Harden’s birthday, his former teammate and friend Westbrook gifted him a luxury watch. Thus shutting down all the rumors of an alleged tiff.
