“Stephen Curry Is TOUGH!”: 1 Year After ESPYS’ Troll, Grant Williams Expressed How Warriors’ Star Left Him Shook After Game 4 of 2022 NBA Finals

After playing a key role in helping Boston Celtics reach the NBA finals in 2022 and Conference finals in 2023, Grant Williams has been traded to Dallas Mavericks. Williams was one of the crucial pieces for the Boston Celtics in the last few years. Recently, the 24-year-old, who signed a new four-year $54,000,000 deal with the Dallas Mavericks, appeared on the ‘Tidal League’ podcast and spoke in detail about the Celtics vs. Warriors Finals. He also spoke about the impact Stephen Curry had on the Finals.

Last year in July, Curry hosted the ESPY Awards, and he made sure that he had his dessert after winning his fourth championship and his maiden Finals MVP. While hosting the show, Curry took a shot at Grant. “It’s great to see you again, my man. I know you like this color, I’ll let you borrow it after I’m done. I might even let you wear a ring,” said Curry, drawing huge laughter from the crowd.

However, the former Celtics player responded on his Instagram account, saying he might borrow the suit, but he doesn’t wear ‘smedium‘, perhaps taking a shot at the Warriors’ star size.

Grant Williams says Stephen Curry is the most impactful player on a team in the NBA

The 2021-22 season was perhaps the best season the Celtics had in a long time. Entering the NBA Finals against the Warriors, they were the overwhelming title favorites. The Celtics were the second seed in the East. However, despite being the third seed in the West, the Warriors had a better regular season record.

Williams and Co. won their opening game on the road and then built a quick 2-1 lead on the series. With that lead in the series and a lead in Game 4, Williams admitted that he thought they might eventually win the series in the Bay Area in the next game. However, Stephen Curry stood in their way, and eventually went on to steal the series. Here is what Williams said;

Man! That man was different. It’s like one if those things where I look back at it and I am like, ‘he[Stephen Curry] is tough’… When I went to college, I watched the Warriors – Cleveland Cavaliers. He was absurd to watch then, and I played against him, ‘he’s different!’ I learned to appreciate him then.

Chef Curry dropped 43 points in a game where his legacy was at stake. It was a statement game from the two-time MVP. Williams also added how scary Curry is as a player, with or without the ball.

After Grant Williams’ praise for Stephen Curry’s off-ball movement, KD says he is more versatile than an iso player

Kevin Durant uses his offseason not only to sharpen his game but also perhaps to talk back to his so-called haters on social media. After Wiliams praised the Phoenix Suns player, saying Durant was by far the hardest player to guard, he added Curry was the most impactful player on the team. The former Celtics player also showered praise on Curry for his off-ball movements.

However, when a user wrote that KD is hardest to guard only in iso, that didn’t sit well with KD. He took social media to hit back at the user saying, “Y’all have to stop actin like I don’t come off pindowns and play off the ball. There is film, please go watch brother.

He later clarified that he wasn’t trying to say anything about SC. He added that he was just clarifying that his game was much more versatile than being an iso player.
