'This isn't CFL': Adrian Wojnarowski trolls Adam Schefter for breaking news of Raptors signing Bembry

Adrian Wojnarowski is undisputed as the best insider of the NBA, and he doesn’t want Adam Schefter to take that crown away.

Woj engaged in some Twitter and Instagram banter with his ESPN colleague after Schefter broke the news of DeAndre Bembry signing with the Toronto Raptors. The ESPN insider told his colleague over Twitter that ‘they’re in the NBA, not the CFL’. Schefter is an NFL and college football insider.

The friendly nature of Adrian Wojnarowski and Adam Schefter’s professional ‘rivalry’

Neither of the duo is particularly threatened by the other’s excellence at their jobs. Both Woj as well as Schefter are considered the most reliable insiders of their particular sports.

What this bit of banter has done is to convince the sports fan following that sportswriters and reporters are caricatures in their own right. The nature of the job is such that reporters and journalists almost never get credit for their work.

Woj has built up quite a following over the years during his time as an NBA insider. People look to him for scoops as soon as offseason transaction windows open.

DeAndre Bembry’s contract with Toronto Raptors

Previously a player for the Atlanta Hawks through 4 seasons, Bembry has built a reputation for his defense more than anything. Bembry is also a really athletic swingman, although he isn’t a particularly good shooter or adept anything else. Bembry’s contract is worth $4 million over 2 years.

The Raptors need to fill out their roster with as many signings as they can following the departures of Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol. Their road back to the championship picture looks murkier than last season.
