A Year After Taking Up Donda Sports' Presidentship, Antonio Brown Reveals How Kanye West Supported Him Through 'Sideline Meltdown' Phase

Back in February 2022, wide receiver Antonio Brown was announced as the President of Donda Sports, a sports organization founded by hip-hop artist and entrepreneur Kanye West. In fact, Ye and AB’s connection goes beyond business. When Antonio was going through one of his darkest phases in football, it was Kanye West who had extended a helping hand.

Recently, on Tyreek Hill’s “It Needed to Be Said” podcast, Brown described how the Grammy-winning musician reached out to him and became a supportive figure in his life. Brown shared, “Right when that situation(sidelines meltdown) happened, off the field, Ye reached out to me as a big brother, just to bring me closer and embrace me.”

Kanye West didn’t stop there in terms of support. He brought Brown to Los Angeles, appointed him as President of Donda Sports, and hosted him in a suite at the Soho for an extended period. This dynamic partnership has not only flourished professionally but has also forged a lasting friendship.

Antonio Brown reveals how Kanye West stood by him in tough times

One year after taking up Donda Sports’ presidency, Antonio Brown opened up about the support he received from Kanye West, while having a chat with Tyreek Hill on his podcast – ,It Needed To Be Said‘. Brown recalled the infamous incident at MetLife Stadium when he left the field mid-game while playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. AB also expressed how music can have a profound impact on everyone’s life.

Brown shared, “Imagine you run off the field, bro, and like, Kanye West like, ‘Yo, pull up to L.A. I’m working on Donda 2, I need you here.'” Inspired by West’s invitation, Brown decided to stay in New York and embark on a new journey with the Grammy-winning artist.

The video conversation didn’t end there. Tyreek Hill, also voiced his support for Antonio. Hill hailed Brown as one of the finest receivers of their generation, praising his exceptional skills. He stated, “He is arguably one of the best receivers of my generation, anyway that I have seen with my own live eyes”.

Donda Sports spent $2 Million on a Super Bowl suite

In a bold move, Donda Sports, under the leadership of Antonio Brown, made headlines by splurging a staggering $2 million on an owner’s suite at Super Bowl LVI. “This is a game meant to be watched together. This is the love and unity we need to push. THIS IS FOR THE KIDS, OUR NEXT GENERATION!!!” Brown had stated.

With Donda Sports, Brown intended to invite children and their families to the grand game. His aim was to showcase the inclusive vision of his organization. With both Ye and Brown constantly landing in controversies, it will be interesting to see how far their professional partnership goes.
