Shannon Sharpe Once Shared a Tear-Jerking Video about His Lovable Grandmother

The Pro Football Hall of Famer who is regarded as one of the best tight ends in the NFL has an intriguing background story. From a student-athlete from a Division II college to one of the best sports analysts, Shannon Sharpe managed to achieve almost everything. The Denver Broncos selected him in the seventh round of the 1990 NFL Draft. From then on began his reign, where he managed to go to Pro Bowls for seven consecutive seasons and win two Super Bowl rings. Needless to say that the 54-year-old played like a absolute powerhouse. However, if given a chance, he would like do all of it, all over again.

A few weeks ago, Sharpe appeared on a hit episode of ‘New Heights,’ a podcast hosted by two-time Super Bowl winner Travis Kelce and six-time Pro Bowler Jason Kelce. The program gained notoriety not just for its amusement and humor but also for its perceptiveness, which resulted in one of Jason Kelce’s inquiries receiving an illuminating response.

Shannon Sharpe never found the connection he always yearned for

Jason asked the Broncos legend what advice he would impart to his younger self. Sharpe said, “Shannon, everything that you accomplished doesn’t mean anything because you don’t have anybody to share it with. That’s what I was doing myself. If I would do it over again, I would find that one person, and that’s what I would do.”

Sharpe feels the void of not having that special someone with whom he could’ve shared his success. Even though the HOF-er is a well-known figure in the world of sports, somehow he kept his personal life very private. Though he was not married, he has three children from past relationships. Additionally, he was romantically involved with Nicole Murphy, a fashion model, in 2017 and was engaged to fitness instructor Katy Kellner later that year, but the two soon broke up.

Unc was close to getting fired from the Broncos’ squad

In the show, Sharpe also revealed an unheard story about his playing days. He focused on the fact that he came extremely close to being let go from the team as he described his rise to prominence in the league.

We’re playing Arizona Cardinals and one of the coaches came to me and said, “Shannon,” he said, “your name is on the board to get cut. Now you might, you might not but your name is on the board. He said, ‘What you should do is go out there and bust your ass,” Shannon stated.

However, his impressive performance in the special teams saved him and made the team rethink their decision.
