Drew Brees Played 2020 Season with Multiple Undisclosed Injuries According to His Wife.

In what was most likely his last NFL season, Drew Brees was plagued with a collapsed lung and 11 broken ribs in November. But apparently, he endured even more.

According to Andrew Doak, a reporter for WWLTV, Brittany Brees took to Instagram to communicate the extent of the injuries her husband faced during the season

According to the post, Brees suffered a torn rotator cuff and a torn fascia in addition to the lung/ribs injury. Brittany’s account is private so there’s no way to be certain at the moment, however Doak provided an observation which could back up the claim.

He says that he first noticed Brees wearing kinesiology tape week 8 against the Bears, speculating that it was that match wherein he tore his rotator cuff.

Will Drew Brees Retire?

To say the least, if the divisional round loss to Tampa was his last game, he definitely did not receive the fairytale ending that athletes dream of. Throwing 3 picks in a home playoff loss after leading is surely less than ideal.

However, there may be a slim chance Brees comes back for another season. Despite taking one final, emotional look back at the Superdome and spending time with his family on the field post-game, he still has not completely written off the chance for a return.

When asked if he had played his last game, he said “I’m gonna give myself an opportunity to think about the season, think about a lot of things, just like I did last year, and make a decision.”

He also reiterated the fact that he had no regrets playing this season, regardless of all the injuries. “I would never regret it. Never,” said Brees.

“No complaints. No regrets. Man, I’ve always tried to play this game with a great respect and a great reverence for it. And I appreciate all that this game has given to me.”

“There are obviously so many incredible memories, so many incredible relationships that have come as a result of playing this game. And, man, you find out so much about yourself and you have to fight through so much when you play this game.”

“And I’d say this season, I probably had to fight through more than I’ve ever had to in any other season in my career — from injury to all the COVID stuff to just crazy circumstances. It was worth every moment of it. Absolutely.”
