Honoring Josh Allen’s Deceased Grandmother, Bills Mafia Once Donated $700,000 to Their QB’s Charity
The Buffalo Bills will be counting their stars for Josh Allen. The prolific signal caller has done well for himself in Buffalo and has catapulted the team toward the top end of the league. It seems they even stand a chance of winning it all because of his talent and skill. However, they are not the only ones thankful. Allen has something to be grateful about too: the ever-loyal and proactive Bills Mafia, and their $700,000 gift.
Most in the NFL community know the Bills Mafia for one reason only: their incessant desire to jump into tables. However, the Mafia has time and again broken this stereotype against them through what many consider a noble gesture: raising money for charities. They do this every time they want to show their appreciation for a player’s performance on the gridiron. A gesture that Josh Allen himself once received.
Bills Mafia once went over and above to show their gratitude to Josh Allen
The Bills vs Seahawks game on November 8, 2020, will always serve as a reminder of how far the Bills Mafia can go to show their gratitude. Josh Allen was extraordinary during the game and was instrumental in leading his team to victory. Not many knew, but Allen’s grandmother, Patricia Allen, had only passed the day before. When the Mafia found out, they had to act.
What came next can only be described as an incredible act of kindness and determination. The Mafia tracked down Allen‘s charity at the Oishei Children’s Hospital and ended up raising almost $700,000 for the charity. The grateful hospital staff even named an entire wing after Allen’s grandmother. Josh was moved by this gesture and got a taste of what being Mafia really meant.
“It’s definitely made the whole process a lot easier,” Allen said to ESPN about the Mafia’s donations. “And I can’t thank the people that donated enough, you know, for what they did, what they’ve done”. He even added that Buffalo, and the Mafia, made him feel right at home, because of how good the people are towards one another.
Allen will be looking to repay the Mafia’s kindness by bringing them the glory
The Buffalo Bills have not yet won a Super Bowl. However, they are one of the contenders this season to win it. What’s more, Josh Allen will be equally determined to bring the Mafia, his “family”, the glory and happiness they deserve. Indeed, it would feel like life has come full circle for Buffalo if they end up winning the Super Bowl this year.
However, there are a lot of obstacles waiting to shove them off the path. The Jets, the Raiders, and the Bengals will all be waiting to get an opportunity to beat the Bills. With Aaron Rodgers joining the conference, things could shape out differently for the Bills in their quest to secure a playoff spot.
Perhaps the most dangerous of all opponents are the Kansas City Chiefs. With reigning regular season and Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes leading their team, they would feel confident about defending their title. The Bills’ only hope will be to pounce on any mistakes the Chiefs make this season. Will Allen be able to help the Bills in bringing home their maiden Super Bowl?
