Tom Brady

Tom Brady is one of the smartest football players ever…usually. On one particular night in Chicago, Brady was severely thrown off his mental high horse.

Facing a fourth down situation against the Bears in week 5, down 20-19, Brady was in a spot he’s so used to being in. His clutch factor is one of his biggest strengths, and there’s almost nobody you’d rather have throwing the ball in such a situation.

Well…maybe not this time. The Buccaneers failed to convert that fourth down, and the Bears ran out the clock on the ensuing possession. However, it wasn’t the incompletion that was Brady’s biggest mistake. He might have simply forgotten it was 4th down.

That’s not something you typically see from the GOAT, and with the Bucs struggling to find their offensive groove coming into the season, many started to worry if father time had finally caught up to him. Seven rings might have something to say about that, however.

Tom Brady Forgets It’s 4th Down, Says He Hasn’t “Ever Been As Confused”

Reacting to old highlights and goofs, Tom Brady revealed that that he did indeed forget what down it was. Brady and coach Bruce Arians both vehemently denied that Brady had forgotten the down after the game, but that no longer looks like the case.

Tom Brady said:

“I know we needed a chunk and I was thinking about more yardage and it was bad execution. I had a great opportunity there. Just didn’t execute when we needed to.”

And when Bruce Arians was asked if Brady forgot the down:

“He knew”

That line of thinking led to Nick Foles getting the better of Brady once more as Brady refused to shake his hand:

Well, Brady finally cleared things for us, reacting on Tik Tok, saying he did indeed forget the down:
