Isaiah Moore NFL Draft: As the NC State Star Joins Patrick Mahomes’ Cheifs, Here’s a Look at His College Statistics

Isaiah Moore, the North Carolina State Wolfpack linebacker was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted agent on Saturday evening. He played for six years with the Wolfpack and has now found the perfect landing spot with the Super Bowl champions.

Moore’s journey from being a college athlete to being drafted by an NFL team is filled with unforeseen adversities. He faced a season-ending injury a week after his memorable performance at Boston College. This event delayed his NFL dreams, followed by the pandemic, but he used this period to guide his team. His college performance was nothing short of incredible. Hence, let’s look at his collegiate career.

Isaiah Moore: Wolfpack LB’s college stats

The linebacker played for NC State for five seasons and wore the No. 1 jersey for three of them. He made a total of 341 tackles during his time there. In the 2022 season, Moore received All-ACC honorable mention honors after making 82 tackles. He didn’t play in 2017 because he redshirted, but he became a prominent member of the team’s linebacker group and a respected leader in the locker room.

Between 2018 and 2020, Isaiah was a dependable contributor for NC State, participating in 35 games and tallying 216 tackles, including 23.5 tackles for loss. He also had 7.5 sacks, forced two fumbles, and recovered one fumble.

Moore faced challenges in 2021 when he tore his ACL during the seventh game against Miami (FL). Prior to his injury, he had been leading the team in tackles for loss and was second in total tackles with 43. Despite his injury, he had already been serving as a team captain for two seasons.
After undergoing surgery and missing spring practice, Moore made a strong comeback in the 2022 season. He accumulated impressive stats, including 82 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, three sacks, and four pass breakups. Moore, who stands at 6’2″ and weighs 234 pounds, received honorable mention All-ACC recognition for his performance during the 2022 season as well.

Isaiah Moore’s Strengths and weaknesses

Following are the strengths and weaknesses of Moore as suggested by Tony Paulin. Moore is not easily fooled by ball fakes and is strong against the run, making him a reliable tackler. He is also able to change direction with ease, move laterally with agility, and aggressively go after ball carriers. When blitzing, he moves quickly upfield and has an impressive ability to close in on the ball.

Isaiah’s coverage skills are average. There have been instances when he has made his initial move upfield and ended up in an unfavorable position. It will be interesting to see how he performs in the coming season.
