“It’s Patrick Mahomes”: Joe Burrow Doesn’t Believe “There’s Any Argument” When It Comes To $503 Million Chiefs QB’s Competition
Joe Burrow is one of the fastest-growing football players and quarterbacks in the NFL right now, but even he knows that Patrick Mahomes is in a league of his own. The Chiefs QB, who signed a record-breaking $503 million deal in 2020, truly has surpassed expectations. His career trajectory is greater than Tom Brady’s currently, statistically, and given how dominant he and his team are, there’s a real chance he adds a few more rings to his collection before all is said and done.
Burrow and Mahomes have already shared some great battles together, and with the current AFC power dynamic, they’re bound to match up more in the future. As great and confident a competitor as Burrow is, he recognizes that Mahomes is simply a league ahead. It’s not like he’s underselling himself, he’s just valuing the achievements of perhaps the best quarterback in the game. Burrow and the Bengals aren’t big fans of Mahomes currently considering he knocked them out of the playoffs, but they know he’s their biggest threat and competition.
Joe Burrow admits that Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL
The NFL is so great right now that there a number of franchise quarterbacks across the league. Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert, Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Dak Prescott, and Trevor Lawrence are all names to look out for.
However, only one of them has multiple MVPs and Super Bowl MVPs. Of course, it’s Patrick Mahomes. In his first full year as a starter, Mahomes etched his name in NFL history by joining Peyton Manning as the only two quarterbacks in NFL history to throw for 5,000+ yards and 50+ touchdowns.
He won the Super Bowl the next year, and just recently, he knocked off Jalen Hurts and the Eagles to win his second Super Bowl. Mahomes is simply ahead of the curve when it comes to young quarterbacks, and he’s proved that both statistically and successfully.
Joe Burrow was recently asked about who the best quarterback in the league is right now, and he easily answered Patrick Mahomes. Burrow definitively said that there’s no argument currently and that it would take someone topping Mahomes’ incredible year last year (when he won his second MVP) to even be considered to rank ahead of him.
#Bengals QB Joe Burrow on who the best QB in the world is right now: “I don’t think there’s any argument right now. It’s Patrick [Mahomes]. Until someone has a better year than he’s had. He’s the one to knock off.”pic.twitter.com/8vWm5N58Dd

Burrow and Mahomes have had their epic duels
It takes a big man to admit that your rival is the best player in the league, but when the answer is as obvious as it is with Patrick Mahomes, it would be disrespectful to answer otherwise. Burrow has faced off against Patrick Mahomes several times to mixed results.
Burrow and Mahomes have met four times, and Burrow currently owns the matchup 3-1. Two of the games were regular season games while the other two were AFC Championship Games. In 2021-22, the Bengals completed their cinderella story in the AFC by knocking off the defending champs in the Chiefs.
However, just this last year, Kansas City would have their revenge and make it back to the big game. If the past few years are any indication, Mahomes vs. Burrow is going to be a big rivalry in the AFC for years to come.
