Rob Gronkowski Thinks Master P “Could Play Linebacker” Because of His “Massive” Size and 6’4” Height
From beer pong and fraternities to Nelk Boy sponsorships, Rob Gronkowski is the long-standing face of partying. Arguably more synonymous with frat culture than football, the former New England Patriot is known for his love of a good time. And that good time often involved throwing it down to the music of rap icon Master P.
With a discography comprised of 14 studio albums and 40 singles, P’s best known for his work on Ghetto D. Containing the rapper’s most successful single, “Make ‘Em Say Uhh,” the album spent its fair share of time atop the U.S. Billboard 200 list while becoming a certified Three Time platinum project.
The Gronk, it turns out, is a major fan of the record producer. Unsurprisingly then, his first encounter with the rap icon is something he still looks back on. Standing at nearly 6’4″, the music mogul proved to be larger than life for a starstruck Gronkowski that day.
As he detailed this encounter on the Dudes on Dudes podcast, Gronk admitted that he did not immediately recognize him, exclaiming, “He was massive, dude… Looked like he could play linebacker.”
So what did this first encounter look like?
“This big guy with a hoodie comes walking up to say what up to [Michael] Strahan, but I’m kind of in front of Strahan. So just he had to walk through me. He just said what up to me real quick, just a quick handshake… Who is that guy? I know him but I don’t know him… I asked our security guy who was that and he said that’s Master P. I was like no way!” Rob recounted.
Considering that the average linebacker in the NFL weighs in at 245 pounds while standing at 6 foot 2″, perhaps Gronkowski was right in his assessment of P’s size and build.
Master P’s three biggest albums, Ghetto D, MP Da Last Don, and Ice Cream Man, each sold more than a million copies. With all three projects having reached platinum status, P’s reign atop the rap game throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s is still remembered by fans of the genre today.
Now enjoying an entrepreneurial career and his own record label, there seems to be no limit to what the former rapper can do.
While Master P may be a bit taller than the average midfield defender, his weight and frame suggest that he could have been a force to be reckoned with had he decided to favor sacks instead of lyrics. But one way or the other, he was going to have a fan in Gronk.
