“I Got No Beef With You, Bro”: Shannon Sharpe Offers an Olive Branch to Packers’ Jaire Alexander After Getting Called Out
The rivalry between Packers’ Jaire Alexander and Vikings’ Justin Jefferson is in full swing. At one point in time, it seemed Hall of Famer and analyst Shannon Sharpe might be caught up in it too. However, after Alexander single-handedly shut down Jefferson last Sunday, it seems Sharpe wants no part in this rivalry.
The post-game locker room interview last Sunday was an interesting one. Especially after Alexander called out Sharpe and ‘Undisputed’ co-host Skip Bayless for their remarks about him. He said, “Tell Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless, they need to, you know, watch what they say when they talk about me. They need to watch what they put out. Talking about ‘he a good corner.’ I’m a great corner.”
The 2x Super Bowl winner was pressed to respond on his show, but instead, he held out an olive branch. Talking about Alexander’s comments, he says, “Why are you picking on the debate hosts? I ain’t bother nobody. I’m just up here doing my job.”
“I said, ‘You’re a good corner’. You talked,” he adds. “I said, ‘I ain’t got no problem with the man talking, but now you talking, you got to back it up’. You backed it up. I ain’t got no beef with you, bro, I don’t want no smoke.”
Jaire Alexander helps Packers beat Vikings to keep playoff fire burning
Alexander’s performance on Sunday helped him kill two birds with one stone. Firstly, he was able to keep Sharpe and Bayless at bay before they could take another shot at him. Secondly, the Packers are now just a win away from making it to the playoffs. From what seemed to be an impossible task 6 weeks ago, the Packers have surely made the comeback of their lives.
Their next game against the Detroit Lions will be a crucial one, for the Lions are also contending for the last playoff spot. Not so far away, the Seattle Seahawks will face the Los Angeles Rams, playing to win and hoping the Packers will lose their footing. The Packers will need to make sure they do not leave their playoff chances up in the air.
If their past games are anything to go by, the Packers have this in the bag. However, they have yet to face a desperate opponent as the Lions, in such desperate circumstances. In short, the Lions will be looking to break the Packers, even if it doesn’t look like they’ll qualify. Will the Lions spoil the mood at Lambeau Field? Or will the Packers celebrate their playoff qualification on home turf?
