Tommaso Ciampa vs Timothy Thatcher Fight Pit match removed from NXT New Year’s Evil. The fight has been postponed.
NXT will celebrate the New year with a special tonight. Dubbed ‘New Year’s Evil’, it promises to be a night of high stakes wrestling featuring some of the best names NXT has to offer, including a rematch between Finn Balor and Kyle O’Reilly for the NXT Championship.

Apart from the title match, the other clash many fans were looking forward to was Tomaso Ciampa against Timothy Thatcher. They were scheduled to take on each other inside the Fight Pit tonight. Plans however, seem to have changed with the match no longer on the card anymore.

The WWE removed all mentions of the match from its website and social media without offering an explanation. They then tried to spin in into a story with NXT Correspondent McKenzie Mitchell tweeting:
“Just saw @RealKingRegal walk into a closed door meeting with @WWENXT medical personnel. As soon as I get an update on what the meeting was, I’ll report back.”

NXT General manager William Regal then explained that Thatcher had suffered a minor injury rendering him unavailable tonight. He promised that the match had been postponed not cancelled and it would take place as soon as Thatcher heals.

Fans were excited to see the match type return. There has only been one Fight Pit match in NXT before. Thatcher took on Matt Riddle last year in May with Kurt Angle as the guest referee.
