Seth Rollins surprisingly defends Brock Lesnar ahead of their rematch at WWE SummerSlam

Seth Rollins surprisingly defends Brock Lesnar ahead of their rematch at WWE SummerSlam. He recently lost his Universal championship to the Beast and will look to win it back in August.

Seth Rollins is currently positioned as the top baby face of WWE and deservingly so. He was routinely putting up match of the nights during his intercontinental run last year. Earlier in January Rollins finally earned that Top Dog spot and has remained so even after the heroic return of the Big Dog from Leukaemia.

Rollins will now face one of, if not his biggest nemesis Brock Lesnar for the Universal. The Architect remains, the only member of the shield to have beaten Brock in singles action at Wrestlemania and he will now hope to replicate the result in August, come SummerSlam.

Rollins has been one of Lesnar’s staunchest critics and has shown his disapproval of the Beast’s part-time status on more than one occasion. The fans agree with Rollins’ assessment and have been very vocal in their expression of displeasure with the Beast. The fans have even gone on to downplay his in-ring skills with some claiming that his performances actually fall short inside the squared circle.

However, Lesnar has found an unlikely defender in his challenger Seth Rollins, who spoke very highly of the reigning Universal Champion in his interview with The Independent.

Rollins said:

“Say what you like about him as a human being and as a champion, and I’ve said all of those things in that way.

“But he is an ultra-competitor, and when the lights are the brightest, he turns it on.

“He goes, and he can go. For a guy who has been through what he’s been through in his life; from his teenage years and collegiate wrestling, his WWE schedule and UFC schedule, he’s a competitor.

“The dude is a fighter and he brings it, every single time, trust me. I’ve been in there and I know what those suplexes and knees feel like.

“It’s no joke – when he wants to go, he can go.”

Rollins is set to face Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam for the Universal Championship. He earned his rematch after beating 9 other superstars in a Battle Royal on the Raw after Extreme Rules.

SummerSlam will take place on August 11, 2019 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
