Former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly feels Kohli should bat at No 4 against England and KL Rahul should continue playing at No 3.
The third T20I against England started with the fireworks of Jason Roy and Jos Buttler ended with the explosive batting of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya. After Dhawan and Rahul were dismissed early, Kohli and Sharma stitched a class partnership to steady things.
By the time Kohli was dismissed India were on the doorsteps of a win. Kohli scored a match defining 43 run knock off just 29 balls. His partnership along with Rohit Sharma was crucial in taking India to a place of comfort.
Former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly has now said that Kohli should continue batting at No 4 in the ODI s as well. He believed KL Rahul to be a good choice for No 3 and said, “If you look at this T20I series, I think they have formed the proper batting line-up. With Rahul at number three, and Virat Kohli batting at number four, I think the problem has been sorted out. And I firmly believe it is also the right thing to do in the ODI format as well.
I think that’s what Kohli is going to do (in the upcoming series) as well. At the moment, India are a very good and well-rounded limited-overs side.”
Ganguly also had very high expectations from the team and believed that the Virat Kohli led side had the potential to keep winning one match after the other, throughout the English summer.
Ganguly said, “A lot of good Indian sides have been tested in England and some of the better ones have done well here and won before. I think this Indian team can be like that, they can definitely win here this summer, definitely the ODIs and possibly the Tests too.”
Gaunguly is part of the elite commentary panel for Sony Six and will be seen in action with his insights on the match.
