Sourav Ganguly on MS Dhoni's retirement

Sourav Ganguly on MS Dhoni’s retirement: The former Indian captain has passed verdict on the veteran cricketer’s future.

There is no escaping from the fact that there are murmurs on the former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s retirement post the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

Despite Dhoni not speaking a bit on the same, bountiful cricket experts and fans believe that the world event will be last for the 37-year old cricketer as far as international cricket is concerned.

Coming on the back of his worst year in ODIs (in terms of number of runs scored), Dhoni has doubtlessly turned the tables this year. In eight ODIs this year, Dhoni has scored 301 runs at an average of 100.33 and a strike rate of 80.05 including four half-centuries.

Before the start of 2019, Dhoni’s dismal form had witnessed a lot of voices regarding him hanging the boots at the highest level. With him back among the runs now, there is not much that one can say on the same.

Ganguly passes major verdict

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who is known for his knack of voicing opinions across topics, has now commented on the same. Speaking on Dhoni’s retirement, Ganguly brought it down to the veteran cricketer’s form during the showpiece event.

“Dhoni can continue after the World Cup. If India wins the Cup and Dhoni performs consistently then why should he retire. Age is never a factor if talent is there,” Ganguly told PTI.

As of now, Dhoni will play his fourth ODI at his home ground JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi tomorrow. Yet to score a half-century in front of his home crowd, Dhoni would be looking to make amends against Australia tomorrow.

In what was an eventful day yesterday, Dhoni drove all-rounder Kedar Jadhav and wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant from the Ranchi airport to the team hotel in his Hummer. The 37-year old cricketer also hosted the Indian team for dinner last night.

What followed for an 8-year-old was an instant adulation for both Ganguly and the sport. The optimist in him is waiting for the day when Punjab Kings will win their maiden Indian Premier League title. When not watching cricket, he is mostly found in a cinema hall watching a Punjabi movie.
