Fans Shower Roger Federer With Love and a Photo of His Ball Boy Days as Former Wimbledon Champion Reacts to Kate Middleton’s Tweet on Ball Kids: “A Massive Honor”
Roger Federer and the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, came together recently to take to the courts at the All England Club to look at the hard work that goes during the practice and selection of ball kids for the Wimbledon Championships. The two even trained alongside the kids with Roger admitting he was mightily impressed at how much effort goes into the training routine.
The official Twitter account for Middleton tweeted out a highlights video of the event, tagging Federer. The Swiss then responded calling it an honor. It comes as no surprise that Federer has such appreciation for the work done by ball kids seeing as he himself was one decades ago.
Fans hoping to see Roger Federer back at Wimbledon
It has now been a while since fans got to watch Roger Federer play at the Wimbledon Championships. And now with his retirement it’s not going to happen but that hasn’t stopped fans from yearning to see him back. From the looks of it, even of the Swiss Maestro were not to return as a player, fans wouldn’t mind seeing him back in any form and capacity. Even as a ball…man?
A nice highlight of the role of Ball Boys and Ball Girls @Wimbledon. A massive honor! https://t.co/maHBklXlED

As always, fans were quick to comment on the thread, with many expressing their love for the former player. One fan even tweeted an old photo of Federer as a ball kid, asking him to come back as a professional ball kid.

What’s next?
While it is unlikely that we will see Roger Federer playing the role of a ball boy again, we might just see him back at the All England Club during the Wimbledon Champions that’ll start July 3. Many were hoping the 20-time Grand Slam champion would take up the role of a commentator for the event.
After all, who wouldn’t love to hear the 8-time champion at Wimbledon express his thoughts and share his expertise as we all enjoy some matches?
Unfortunately, that is also not going to happen as confirmed by the man himself. Responding to a fan who had tweeted out asking if we would see him take that role up, Federer shut it down by saying it won’t happen this year. Perhaps next year then?
no plans to commentate this year!

One very positive update from Federer, when he made an appearance at Halle earlier this month, is that he is open to playing again at some exhibition events, provided his body allows it. So here’s to hoping his knee recovers well in the coming months and we do get to see Roger weave his magic on the courts once again.
