Nick Kyrgios has recently got his back inked with Pokemon tattoos. The Australian star is a big fan of the cartoon and has admitted to still playing Pokemon in video games. His tattoo artist was Joaquin Ganga, a world famous tattooist who has worked with the likes of Lebron James, Tyga and Post Malone among others and some who grew up knowing Carlos Alcaraz.

Kyrgios recently posted on Instagram asking his followers for any good tattoo artists in Los Angeles as he planned on getting his back inked. He was surprised when Alcaraz messaged him about Joaquin Ganga, who is the Spaniard’s childhood friend and both grew up together in the same village in Spain.

Who is Carlos Alcaraz’s friend and tattoo artist Joaquin Ganga?

Joaquin Ganga, is a tattoo artist based in Los Angeles. Ganga is originally from Murcia in Spain, the same place as Carlos Alcaraz. Alcaraz and Ganga grew up together in the same village and know each other since many years. The world number 1 tennis player is good friend of Ganga, who many regard as the best tattoo artist in the world.

Ganga was brought up in one of the humble neighborhood in Murcia, Spain. The 29-year-old says that he was always interested in drawing and by the age of 12 he started working in graffiti. Ganga further revealed that he has not learned the skill anywhere and it just comes naturally to him with a lot of hard work and practice. He started watching ‘Miami Ink’ as a teenager and thought to himself, ‘If they can do it, I can do it too.’

Ganga has worked his magic on many high profile celebrities and athletes, namely: Drake, LeBron James, Beckham Jr. Post Malone among others. Working with such high profile clients is an indication of how sought-after the Spanish tattoo artist is. Carlos Alcaraz is among one of the many celebrities Ganga has worked his magic on.

Nick Kyrgios revealed to GQ how he got to know about Ganga, through Carlos Alcaraz, and how the artist has worked on some of the biggest celebrities on the planet.

“I’ve been thinking about getting some Pokémon work for a while now. I’m heavy into anime and love Pokémon. So, then I came up with this mad design with one of my artists in Australia and then I went over to LA. I was there for work, but then I met one of the best tattoo artists in the world, Ganga. He’s done LeBron, Post Malone, Lil Uzi Vert, Tyga. I went to his studio and he saw the design. He was basically saying, “I want to do this design. We’re doing it here.”

What do Carlos Alcaraz’s tattoos signify?

Carlos Alcaraz had a great 2022, winning his maiden Grand Slam at the US Open and establishing himself as one of the best players in the world. The Spaniard got himself inked on his left wrist with the ‘Three C’s’ tattoo. The “Three Cs,” which stand for “Head” (cabeza), “Heart” (corazon), and “Balls” (cojones) in Spanish, have a deep importance for Alcaraz, which was instilled in him by his grandpa, to whom he owes his success. The phrase symbolizes the tennis star’s enthusiasm, courage, and mental fortitude in both his life and his game.

Another one of Alcaraz’s tattoo is the date 11 September 2022. This day has great significance in the Spaniard’s life as he beat Casper Ruud in four sets to win his maiden Grand Slam title on 11th September 2022 at the US Open.
