As a result, McGregor’s fan base grew to millions, and he became one of the most marketable UFC athletes in recent memory. Besides that, McGregor has used his fortune wisely and generated multiple income sources.

As a result, he stands amongst the wealthiest athletes on the planet, boasting a net worth of a whopping $200 million. Interestingly, McGregor just added another feather to his cap with his achievement on social media.

Now, it is interesting to note that the former UFC dual-weight champion Conor McGregor hasn’t competed for almost two years now. His last bout was against his rival Dustin Poirier in July 2021. He lost the bout after suffering a gruesome leg injury.

However, the layoff didn’t have any negative effect on his income or popularity. In fact, ‘The Notorious’ has added more to his resume. He will soon be featured in a Hollywood movie alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. Who knows, the Irishman might just pursue a career in acting after retiring from MMA.

 

But before that, however, according to reports, McGregor achieved another milestone by becoming the highest-paid MMA athlete on Instagram. ‘The Notorious’ reportedly earns over $150,000 per post, with a following of over 46 million.

McGregor has surpassed the likes of some MMA greats, including Ronda Rousey (16.3M followers), Khabib Nurmagomedov (34.1 million), Israel Adesanya (7 million), and more.

When will McGregor return to UFC?

All the other factors in McGregor’s life seem to be good. Unfortunately, his MMA career is currently seeing a huge downfall. The former UFC champion has only won one out of his last four fights since 2016.

Many of his fans around the world are eagerly waiting for his huge return. He is expected to make a return this year. However, there hasn’t been any official announcement.

However, fights fans would be delighted to know that McGregor’s coach and SGB Ireland’s head coach John Kavanagh has revealed that there are high chances of McGregor’s return this year. He was very confident about his statement and its also interesting to note that Kavanagh is very close to the UFC superstar. Thus, we have some hope this time.
