Charles Oliveira’s breakthrough performance against Tony Ferguson at UFC 256 has received worldwide attention, and since then enthusiasts and analysts are constantly discussing what’s next for him. In the wake of that, his surge in the rankings has propelled him to become a certified contender for the title shot.
What’s Next For Charles Oliveira?
Charles Oliveira’s push in the rankings has changed the ranking scene of the division. While Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier are ahead of him, he has displaced Tony Ferguson from the 3rd spot and is also above Conor McGregor in the Top 5.
So, while his emergence at the top guarantees more exciting potential contests, his next bout might likely turn out to be against the winner of Conor McGregor Vs. Dustin Poirier, which is scheduled to take place on January 23. However, with Michael Chandler also lurking in the wind, and Justin Gaethje also seemingly on the lookout for a new opponent, there are various possibilities lying ahead for Do Bronx. But, in the post-UFC 256 presser, he conveyed that he would want to face either Conor or Dustin next, therefore, all eyes on the next Pay-Per-View event (UFC 257).

Moreover, there’s still uncertainty around Khabib Nurmagomedov’s future. If Dana White persuades him to come back, then which way the division will head is anybody’s guess. But, as of now what can be estimated is Charles Oliveira’s trajectory, which apparently is set to go up.
