Francis Ngannou is widely considered to be one of the baddest men on the planet. The former UFC heavyweight champion is known for his brutal one-punch knockout ability. Despite having a great run in the UFC, things between the promotion and Ngannou turned sour, and he left the company earlier this year.
After months of searching for a new company, he signed a lucrative deal with the PFL (Professional Fighters League). While some have applauded his move to the PFL, others, including UFC commentator Joe Rogan, do not seem to be a fan of it.
What did Joe Rogan say about Francis Ngannou’s PFL deal?
While addressing Francis Ngannou’s new deal with the PFL, Joe Rogan expressed his frustrations during episode #1991 of his podcast. The UFC commentator suggested that he’s happy that Ngannou was going to get paid. However, he feels that it’s a big loss since ‘The Predator’ won’t be fighting the UFC anymore. He said:
“It’s a big loss in my mind, like, him going to the PFL. It bums me out. I understand it. I’m happy he’s going to get paid, I’m happy he’s going to get to box. But I loved watching this guy fight in the UFC.”
It is worth noting that the contract signed by Francis Ngannou is truly one of a kind. He will be given administrative powers and his opponent will be guaranteed a pay of at least $2 million, to just name a few. That said, it’s clear to see why he decided to sign with the PFL.
Will Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou ever happen?
Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou was slated to be the fight for the heavyweight debut of ‘Bones’. However, after Ngannou decided to leave the UFC, the hopes of a potential matchup between the two washed away.
In the meantime, Jones has now claimed the UFC heavyweight championship after beating Ciryl Gane earlier this year. While the two are now part of different promotions, a potential fight between the two can still be made.
If both UFC and PFL decide to host a crossover event, then fans could be treated to the highly anticipated matchup to determine who the real baddest man on the planet is. However, the possibility of it happening seems to be next to impossible at the moment.
