On a professional front, the year 2018 hasn’t been the best of years for Dhoni. Apart from being dropped from the T20I squad, Dhoni has undergone his worst year in ODI cricket this year.

His lean patch is the main reason behind numerous opinions arising on whether he should continue till the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 or not. While there is a great amount of haters who oppose Dhoni’s position in the ODI team, almost all current and former cricketers opine on the contrary, stating that he adds much more to this Indian team than just runs with the bat.

Dhoni’s next international assignment will be the ODI leg of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia. The three-match ODI series will commence on January 12 next year.
