Watch: Virat Kohli requests audience to cheer for Shami instead of him

Watch: Virat Kohli requests the fans in the stadium to cheer for Mohammed Shami instead of him during India Vs Bangladesh first test match.

In another instance of humbleness by the Indian skipper Virat Kohli, he asks the fans inside the stadium to cheer for Mohammed Shami instead of him while India played Bangladesh on the 1st day of the 1st test match in Indore.

Bangladesh lost wickets early in the game but a partnership by Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim. But the scorecard accelerated after when Liton Das came out to bat at the sixth position in the order.

This is when India’s veteran bowler stepped up and stunned Rahim with a brutal delivery to end the partnership which could have been costly to India.

Shami bowled away going deliveries to start the over with and suddenly brought the ball back to the batsman. Rahim wasn’t expecting and was late in getting his bat down. But by then, the damage was done and he had to walk back to the pavilion.

Looking at the dismissal, Kohli waved rejoicing and the crowd got excited and with this audience starting chanting Kohli’s name. However, Kohli wonderfully gestured them to cheer for Mohammed Shami who was bowling like a dream in his spell.

Thus, showing that Kohli never forgets the contribution of his players and give credits with respect wherever it is due. Meanwhile, India dominated the first day on the field as Bangladesh lost wickets without giving any mammoth challenge on the scoreboard.

India is now trying to capitalize the score of 150 given by Bangladesh in the first innings, and after the day 1 have 86 runs on the board after losing 1 wicket. The Indian contingent now looks to dominate with bat and give a colossal lead to chase to Bangladesh.
