During the fourth match of the ongoing Windies’ tour of India at Mumbai, Indian captain Virat Kohli put on display a brilliant effort on the field to found Windies’ opening batsman Kieran Powell short of the crease.
It happened on the second delivery of the sixth over when Marlon Samuels played his second ball towards cover. With non-striker Powell eager to run a non-existing single, cover fielder Kohli played a wristy-flick, albeit a reverse one, as the ball hit the stumps with Powell way outside.
In which came as an astonishing effort, Kohli was seen with all his teammates in a jiffy as everyone had gathered together to celebrate the captain’s effort. Powell ended up scoring 4 (12) as Windies lost their third wicket within no time.
Powell became the second Windies’ batsman to get run-out. The fact that both the run-outs happened between five balls is highly likely to hurt the opposition.
Chasing a 378-run target, being restricted to 20-3 have left the Windies in a huge spot of bother. That being said, they would be hoping for in-form middle-order batsman Shimron Hetmyer to play a substantial innings to take them close to the target.
Having won the toss and chose to bat, on the back of Rohit Sharma 21st ODI century and Ambati Rayudu’s third ODI century, India scored a mammoth 377-5 in their allotted quota of 50 overs.
