Booker T thinks Sting can have an Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels like match with Chris Jericho

Booker T thinks Sting can have an Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels like match with Chris Jericho despite the Icon being 61 years old.

The Legendary Sting made his AEW debut at Winter is Coming. The news excited many fans who were eager to see him one more time before he calls time on his career. There are some fans however, who wonder what his contributions to the promotion will be; or in what capacity will he be able to perform them.

The fact that he is on a full time schedule has worried fans due to his age and health concerns. WWE Hall of Famer Booker T however, believes Sting can go at a level Undertaker and Shawn Michaels went during their Wrestlemania match so long as he has the perfect opponent. Who would that opponent be? Why Chris Jericho of course.

“Sting being 61 [years old], he could still go out there and go,” Booker T claimed on his The Hall of Fame podcast. “He could still go out there and move. He could still go out there and do a little something in the ring.

“How much? I think it really wouldn’t matter with him and a guy like [Chris] Jericho. I really think they could go out and pretty much smoke and mirrors and tell a story. Even at the age Sting is right now, even still at the age of Chris Jericho right now…I still think those guys got enough knowledge in their head to be able to go out there. Literally smoke and mirrors…

“I say that because here in Houston, we had Shawn Michaels versus the Undertaker at WrestleMania. Between the two of those guys at that time, it was about 100 years [old], because both of them were about 50 at the time. And they went out and had the best match on the card by far that night.

“They told the best story by far that night on the card. So my thing is, the perfect person that’s gonna go out there and dance with him properly, make sure he walks out of that ring more importantly than anything…Chris Jericho.”

There’s so much wrong with Booker T’s statement. To begin with, both Sting and Jericho are older than what Taker and HBK were back then. In fact, Sting is about a good 15 years older! To go and then suggest that their match was a success because of smokes and mirrors is underselling what the athletes brought to the ring.

Sting’s body now is nowhere near what Taker was back then. Also despite being a phenomenal performer Jericho isn’t what he used to be three years back let alone Shawn Michaels from 2009. The only agreeable statement from Booker T was that the endgame should be passing the torch to young talent like Darby Allin.
