Jack Hager claims John Cena refused to lose the WWE title to him

“He refused to do the job for me”: Jack Hager claims John Cena refused to lose the WWE title to him during his run all the way back in 2010.

John Cena has put over several performers in recent years. He gave Bray Wyatt his biggest Wrestlemania victory this year, lost to Braun Strowman on a random episode of WWE RAW. He also took the pin for Finn Balor during a number one contender’s match for the Universal Championship among many others.

In the past however, Cena wasn’t very keen to lay on his back and stare at the lights. Several stars have accused Super Cena of politicking his way to wins and championships and former World Heavyweight Champion Jack Hager has now claimed that he would have been WWE Champion if not for the face that runs the place.

Jack Hager, who went by Jack Swagger in the WWE, won the Money in the Bank briefcase at Wrestlemania. The plan seems to have been for him to cash in on John Cena for the WWE championship. However, Hager claims that Cena put his foot down on the plan.

“I had a little inclination, but I had no idea what was going to happen,” Hager told Chris Jericho on Talk Is Jericho. “The night before, I teased it on Raw. I hit Cena with the briefcase, I snuck up on him when he had one of his brilliant promo segments. Later, come to find out, he refused to do the job for me for the [WWE] Championship. We won’t talk about that. Ugh. ‘The most unselfish top man in the business.”

Hager would instead cash in on Jericho himself for the World Heavyweight Championship. He held the title for 79 days before dropping it to Rey Mysterio at WWE Fatal 4-Way.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
