CM Punk AEW Collision

CM Punk is without a doubt one of the most controversial names in pro wrestling. Following the infamous backstage brawl out, Punk’s return to wrestling was viewed as a pie in the sky. However, the day, the Straight Edge star may finally make his return to AEW after eight months. A new report indicates that the former AEW Champion is scheduled to return to Tony Khan’s company in June.

At some point during his absence, there were rumors that AEW was seemingly looking to buy out Punk’s contract instead of bringing him back. At the time, the notion of Punk’s return was met with a lot of criticism. And if Punk had returned earlier, it would have opened a can of worms.

CM Punk is seemingly going to return to AEW in June

AEW is reportedly aiming to bring back CM Punk on AEW’s new Saturday Night show, Collision. According to Dave Meltzer, CM Punk will return to the company on the June 17th show emanating from Chicago at the United Center.

Interestingly, Chicago also happens to be the hometown of the Second City Saint. June 17th is also seemingly expected to be the debut of AEW’s new weekly show, Collision.

“As things stand right now, the return of CM Punk is scheduled for a 6/17 show at the United Center in Chicago, which being a Saturday night show, is likely the debut of the new weekly show.”

Clearly, Punk’s actions in the past have driven a wedge between him and other talents. The new weekly show of AEW intends to feature a set of talents separately to avoid any further infighting within the promotion.

As noted, CM Punk’s potential return may not sit well with a lot of other wrestlers. But, let’s call a spade a spade and admit that “The Summer of Punk” is probably a big deal for AEW and Tony Khan.

Chris Jericho seemingly doesn’t want to work with CM Punk

Although CM Punk is inching toward his reported AEW return, he is yet to mend the fence with a lot of people. At this point, Punk is yet to squash his beef with the Elite.

In addition, Chris Jericho has expressed his unwillingness to co-exist with CM Punk. While it is healthy for Punk and Jericho to call a truce, it seems that the latter is less interested in ironing out their differences.

Jericho hinted at his unwillingness to work with Punk by responding “Not everyone” to a fan who tweeted that Jericho always finds a way to work with everyone if it’s best for business. AEW has reportedly planned a sit-down involving Punk and Jericho soon. We will have to wait and see how things play out in their meeting.
