Bianca Belair dethrones Sasha Banks to win SmackDown Women’s Championship in the main event of Night One at Wrestlemania 37.

There is always pressure when you’re the first of something. The main event of night one was historic because of the many firsts associated with it. First time two African American Wrestlers of any gender facing each other at Wrestlemania for a world title. First time, two African American face each other in singles action at the grandest stage of all and the first ever one on one match between two women to close out the show of shows.

The intensity, emotions and magnitude of the moment was not lost on Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair. The SmackDown Women’s Champion was on the verge of tears while the Royal Rumble winner openly wept before the match even began.


They were in the main event. They were forever going to be a part of history and it was their duty to give the fans a match worthy of the accolade.

Banks was the first one to get her offences in. Belair fought back, catching the champion with a crossbody. Banks fought back and even managed a two count but her attempt at using her opponents braid backfired when the EST rammed her into the ring post.

Belair began mounting a comeback, landing an impressive standing shooting star press. She tried to finish the match with a 450 but Banks countered by putting her knees up.


Belair did not let the momentum slip past her and hit a couple of powerbombs on the champion but failed to lay her out.

Banks fought her way back into the match smashing her opponent onto the steel steps. She tried to put Belair away with the Banks Statement and even used her opponents hair to tie her in but Belair managed to grab the rope.


Belair avoided a meteora and looked to end it with a 450 but that wasn’t enough to keep the champion down.


The match ended after Belair smacked Banks using her hair like a whip. The loud sound echoed throughout the stadium as Belair caught Banks and finished her with the KOD for the three count.


This match was the epitome of Night 1. Sure there were a few mistakes here and there but as a whole this was an amazing show. You couldn’t help but feel thrilled, excited, happy and entertained. This was arguably the match of the night with Cesaro and Rollins coming in a hot second.

It sets things up perfectly for night two. If anyone doubted the capablitlites of the two women closing out the show, all doubts were cleared when the final bell rand.
