And then, on the following Monday Night RAW, he was betrayed and attacked by Brock Lesnar. However, despite all of this, The American Nightmare has topped every WWE superstar in one aspect. According to reports, Cody Rhodes was the top merchandise seller during WrestleMania 39 week.
Ever since his return last year, The American Nightmare name has been fruitful for WWE in terms of revenue. Throughout 2022, he was one of the top merch sellers in the company. It seems he has outdone names like Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn this time.
Cody Rhodes was the top individual merchandise seller throughout WrestleMania 39 week
The American Nightmare entered this year’s Showcase of Immortals to finish his story by dethroning The Tribal Chief. His dream of becoming the Undisputed Champion may not have come true, but he did outperform Roman Reigns in one sense. Cody Rhodes came out of WrestleMania 39 as the company’s top individual merchandise seller.
In one of its recent reports, Fightful Select talked about WWE’s merch sale during WrestleMania 39 week. The report stated that throughout the week, the generic-themed WWE/WrestleMania merchandise was the top-selling item.
However, as far as individual sales are concerned, The American Nightmare topped every WWE superstar. Across WrestleMania 39 week, Cody Rhodes was reported as the top individual merchandise seller.
Anyway, the report stated nothing about the numbers or revenue generated from the sales. As to #2 and #3 on the list, Fightful believes it would have been either Roman Reigns or The Bloodline.
With the kind of merchandise sale and fan attraction Cody Rhodes is getting, it’s obvious WWE would want to book him prominently after WrestleMania 39. As a matter of fact, there are rumors about some big plans for him in the future.
The American Nightmare is rumored to face Brock Lesnar at WWE’s upcoming pay-per-view
Recently, reports have emerged providing spoilers about Cody Rhodes’ match at next month’s Backlash pay-per-view. It’s being stated that The American Nightmare will be facing a 10-time world champion.
According to WrestlingBlog, WWE management plans to book Cody Rhodes in a major match at the event. As a matter of fact, the idea is to put him against none other than Brock Lesnar. Although nothing is official as of now, rumors claim the match will most likely happen at Backlash.
