What is Daniel Bryan’s contract situation with WWE

What is Daniel Bryan’s contract situation with WWE? What is in store in the future for the former WWE Champion and what lies next?

Daniel Bryan seems to have wrestled his last match in the WWE. Facing against Roman Reigns, the match saw both competitors put something important on the line. Reigns had his Universal Championship while Bryan put his career at stake for a shot at glory.

Reigns came out victorious after a gruelling duel. Many assumed that this would mean Bryan would turn up on other WWE programming, preferabbly NXT. That however, hasn’t happened so fat and there is no word on his future at the moment. Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed his exit from WWE on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio.

What is Daniel Bryan’s contract situation with WWE?

Meltzer revealed that the way his contract situation was detailed to him by people backstage led him to believe that Bryan’s contract was up soon. This was followed by Bryan clarifying that his contract was not due in Spetember.

“I knew something was up on Saturday because I had asked somebody, ‘so where’s he going? Raw, NXT, or what’s the deal?’ I got an interesting message on that. It was basically a message that kind of said — it talked some about that maybe he’s gonna leave which made me believe that his contract was coming due and he did an interview just a couple of days ago where he said everybody thinks my contract is due in September because he signed [his last deal] in September…whatever it is, it was until April 30.”

Meltzer added that Bryan probably knew of his exit before Wrestlemania 37, which is why he said in his promos that WrestleMania 37 could be his last.

“I guess he was gonna give them [until] right after WrestleMania in 2021, which is why all those promos were that this could be my last WrestleMania because his contract was coming due…the agreement was that he would go through this WrestleMania….yea, he’s a free agent. He can go anywhere he wants tomorrow…”

Meltzer concluded by stating that the only people who knew of his future plans at the moment are Bryan himself and his wife.

“If anyone tells you that they know, they are lying to you.

“He may know right now…If he knows, I would be very secure to say that his wife knows.”

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
