Triple H CM Punk

CM Punk reportedly dropped by backstage on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. He briefly met Triple H and a few other WWE Superstars before he was asked to leave the arena by Vince McMahon. CM Punk does not share the most cordial of relationships with either Vince McMahon or Triple H. In fact, he once blamed both men for WWE not doing as well it should have.

During his pipebomb promo, he called Vince McMahon a bully who surrounded himself with yes man. He also called Triple H the doofus son-in-law who would take over the promotion, while expressing certainty that nothing would change under him.

Apart from this, Punk has on several occasions spoken of his dislike for the current WWE head of creative. Triple H himself has had a few choice words for the voice of the voiceless. Knowing the history between both men, many are curious to know what The Game’s reaction was upon sighting Punk backstage last night.

How did Triple H react to seeing real life rival CM Punk backstage on WWE RAW?

As mentioned earlier, Triple H and CM Punk had a brief chat backstage at WWE RAW last night. While there is no word on what the two actually discussed, per Fightful, The Game was shocked to see his former adversary. They had a quick conversation before they shook hands and left.

While CM Punk joined WWE back in 2006, their real-life rivalry actually began before it. During his time in the Indies, the AEW star called Triple H the “CM Punk of WWE.”

The fact that he was using an avalanche version of the Pedigree also rubbed The Game the wrong way.

In fact, Triple H and Shawn Michaels tried to bury him during his early days with the promotion. However, Punk managed to find success and was even cheered over The Hardy Boyz and DX at Survivor Series 2006. Punk claims that this infuriated Triple H even more.

Punk and Triple H came face to face in a WWE ring for the first time in 2010. The match ended in a disqualification win for Triple H. Triple H went on to beat CM Punk in their second match several years during the Summer of Punk and was severely criticized for it.

CM Punk and Triple H were then scheduled for a match at WrestleMania 30. However, Punk infamously walked out of the promotion and Triple H instead went on to face Daniel Bryan in the opening match of the PPV.

Despite their apparent dislike for each other, it appears that Punk is willing to let bygones be bygones. It will be interesting to see if The Game feels the same about his once upon a time adversary.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
