Goldberg says he wants to give back to Wrestling

Goldberg says he wants to give back to Wrestling. The WWE Hall of Famer makes limited appearances with the promotion every year.

Goldberg is scheduled to face Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. This will be his second match this year. His first was all the way back in January against Drew McIntyre at Royal Rumble for the WWE Championship.

It is unlikely that Goldberg’s match with Lashley will deviate from the formula he has employed in the last few years i.e A physical match spammed with finishers lasting about less than ten, maybe five minutes. Regardless, should Lashley come out on top, he will have another impressive point to add to his already impressive CV and Goldberg recognises this as much.

Goldberg says he wants to give back to Wrestling

During a recent conversation with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Goldberg spoke of his desire to give back to the industry that made him a star.

“I was fortunate to run through the wrestling world like a hot knife through butter in my career, and then I was gone. Serving the business is a responsibility. That includes getting b**ts in seats and making sure people invest in the product, but it also means you have to give back. I didn’t always do that before. But that’s my duty, and that’s a big reason why I am here. I owe the business a lot more than I have given. I can provide a star like Bobby Lashley a worthy adversary. I need to come back for that reason.”

I am ready to risk anything and everything to provide my son

Speaking of his return to the WWE five years back, Goldberg said that he had done so for his family and the moments he has shared with his son since, is priceless.

“I came back five years ago for my family. I wanted my wife and son to experience this and see an event where I was working, which they’d never seen before. As soon as Gage was back on camera this summer, the first person I got a text from was [Ric] Flair. We all know his affinity for his children, and he’s also someone that has had interactions with his children on screen. That’s priceless. So I am ready to risk anything and everything to provide my son and myself with that opportunity.”

SummerSlam 2021 will take place on August 21, 2021, at Allegiant Stadium in the Las Vegas suburb of Paradise, Nevada. It will be the 34th event under the SummerSlam chronology. It will also be the first to take place on a Saturday since the 1992 event; although it will be the first to air live on a Saturday.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
