“I was trying to hold it all together, telling myself, ‘Don’t cry’” – Rhea Ripley on why she was crying during Wrestlemania 37 opening.
Wrestlemania 37 took place this weekend. The biggest wrestling show of the year was the first, and so far, the only WWE show show in over a year to take place in front of an audience. The very fact that this was possible was emotional for both the fans and the performers.

There are several WWE stars who wear their emotions on their sleeves. Despite not looking it, turns out Rhea Ripley is one of them. During a conversation with TV Insider the RAW Women’s Champion revealed that she tried her best to hold her tears back but a wink from a certain superstar opened the floodgates.
Rhea Ripley on why she was crying during Wrestlemania opening
“It was crazy walking through the curtain and seeing the crowd and how excited they were. All my dreams were coming true. It was something I worked toward for a long time. I was trying to hold it all together, telling myself, “Don’t cry.”
“Then I looked over to Edge near me, and he had tears in his eyes. He nodded at me and winked. I just lost it. I could not hold it together. Then I saw this fan in the front saying, “Hey Rhea! You got this. You’re going to kill it” — giving me this pep talk. Next thing I know, I’m being shown on the big screen.”
Ripley faced Asuka on the second night of the show. She beat the Empress of Tomorrow to become the newest RAW Women’s Champion. She joined Bianca Belair (SmackDown) and Raquel Gonzalez (NXT) as the trio of women crowned new Women’s Champions last week.
