WWE SmackDown News: New SmackDown Tag Team Champions crowned!

The Hardy Boys relinquished the SmackDown Tag Titles last week on SmackDown. The decision was made after the younger of the Hardy Brothers had to undergo surgery. A surgery that would keep him out for 6 to 9 months.

WWE had earlier announced on it’s digital platform that Shane was going to address the SmackDown Tag team Division. The Prodigal Son came out on SmackDown today. He spoke about The Miz and claimed that he would win their Money in the Bank match.

He then went to say that he had a team in mind. One that was worthy of holding the Tag Titles. He called out the team of Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan. He then handed the Titles to them.

This bought out The USO’s. They talked about how everyone who had worn those Titles had earned the Right to wear it. They then Challenged the team of Bryan and Rowan for the Titles.

Both teams had an interesting back and forth match. However the match ended with Rowan hitting the Iron Claw. With that, Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan have now been crowned The New SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

This is completely out of the blue. But a good decision, considering the condition of the SmackDown Tag Division at the moment. It will be interesting to see who will the new champions first opponents be.

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
