Dave Batista The Rock

The Rock is arguably the biggest star to have emerged from the WWE. After winning almost every prize in the world of Wrestling, the Brahma Bull moved to Hollywood and conquered Tinsel town with his unmatchable charisma and charm. Dave Batista has also had a very similar career path. The Animal clawed his way to the top of the food chain in WWE before gnawing his way to the big screen through sheer tenacity. Their similarities, however, end there, at least, according to the Guardians of the Galaxy star.

Many have pointed out the similarities and naturally compared the two former WWE superstars. However, Batista does not see the point in it. He has previously addressed the comparison and appeared very hostile doing so. This time, in a recent interview, he gave a much more mellow answer.

According to GQ, the former World Heavyweight Champion neither wants to be The Rock nor did he ever desire to do. He only wishes to be a respected actor and not be typecast into any particular kind of roles.

“I never wanted to be the next Rock,” Bautista told the magazine. “I just want to be a good f***ing actor; A respected actor.”

“Honestly, I could give a f*ck [about being a movie star],” he continued. “I don’t care about the spotlight, I don’t care about fame. I just want to be a better actor. I want respect from my peers. I don’t need accolades. It’s about the experience, about knowing that I accomplished something.”

Dave Batista doesn’t want to be lumped in with The Rock and John Cena

Batista, Rock and Cena are the three biggest stars to make it to Hollywood. Naturally, the fans want to see them together in a movie. However, Batista was very blunt about his opinion on his fellow former WWE stars.

He then doubled down and gave fans a visual presentation as to why he didn’t want to be lumped in with them.

When asked about Batista’s response, Cena explained that he understood where the statements were coming from.

“I think when someone makes a statement like that, I think the important thing is to try and look at things from their perspective,” Cena said. “Dave has worked so hard on his craft, and he is so dedicated to his characters, and really wants to put forth a body of work that gives him his own identity. I 100 percent understand that.”

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
