Vince McMahon WWE lawsuit

The WWE and Hollywood are similar in a lot of ways. Both involve scripted scenes taking place with the aim of getting fans to tune in. It is therefore natural that most WWE Superstars get offers to appear on the big screen. The biggest examples today are The Rock, John Cena and Dave Batista, all of whom have made a considerable mark in the movie industry today. However, it appears that another former WWE Champion could have very well joined them or at the very least have a big movie to their name in ‘Pearl Harbor.’

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle once revealed that he was offered a major role in the movie based on the attack by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service against the US naval base at Pearl Harbor during World War II. However, Vince McMahon forced him to turn the offer down.

Kurt Angle explains why WWE CEO Vince McMahon refused to let him star in “Pearl Harbor” movie

Speaking on his “The Kurt Angle Show podcast“, the Olympic Gold Medalist revealed that he was offered the role of Danny, portrayed by Josh Hartnett. However, the then WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, who was still reeling from The Rock swapping his wrestling promotion for the glittering lights of Hollywood, quickly put an end to it.

“It was a blockbuster movie. I was one of the leading roles. They wanted me and WWE said no. It was Pearl Harbor. It was a guy that was the hero that died at the end. I didn’t see the movie, but I was told who it was gonna be,” Kurt Angle said. “Unfortunately, they said no, and the reason, and I totally get it. Rock just left and Vince was putting everybody on lockdown. He wasn’t going to lose another wrestler to Hollywood.”

Angle also revealed that it was very difficult for WWE stars to get any type of movies for the next five or six years because they were being controlled by Vince McMahon. However, the then CEO eventually loosened up on his stance. Thus resulting in WWE stars like John Cena and Edge following The Rock.

National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

The United States honors and remembers the 2,403 Americans who were killed during the unfortunate attack by the Japanese by annually observing the National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. The United States Congress declared December 7th as the day. The joint resolution was signed by President Bill Clinton back on August 23, 1994.

The 2,403 Americans who lost their lives are honored with an American Flag flown at half-staff until sunset.

The attack on Pearl Harbor was a significant event in world history because it led to the United States declaring war on Japan and eventually taking part in the second world war. The US was a neutral country during the war. However, once they turned their attentions to Japan, Germany and Italy declared war on the US.

The US responded with their own declaration of war against Germany and Italy and the rest is, well, history.

Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all.
