Twitter erupts as Vasek Pospisil shocks World Number 1 Andy Murray
When the Indian Wells draw was handed out, Andy Murray fans rejoiced as Federer, Djokovic and Nadal were all drawn in the same quarter, and Murray had a fairly easy passage to the final. While you can never really rule out anyone in the ATP circuit, you expected the ‘new found Murray’ to brush aside any challenge apart from the Top 5. Also, with Tsonga knocked out early, it was almost a cakewalk for Murray, but Pospisil had different ideas.
Murray was fresh off his Dubai win and was expected to go all the way at the so called ‘fifth major’. Instead he lost to the World number 129, Vasek Pospisil in straight sets(6-4, 7-6).
Murray’s loss leaves Stan Wawrinka as the highest ranked player in the top half, and he would be itching to make a huge mark in this tournament. In the bottom quarter, if everything goes as planned, we’ll have another ‘Fedal’ in the 4th round.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Murray’s shock loss:

Vasek Pospisil upsets No. 1 Andy Murray. The theme of the men's tennis season so far. No superstar is safe in any round at any time.
