The former Vikings first round pick signed a $42 million contract with the Bengals earlier this year. The news comes as a huge blow to Cincinnati, who were expecting him to make an immediate impact in their revamped secondary.

Trae Waynes’s Career So Far
Waynes was drafted 11th overall in the 2015 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings. After an impressive couple of years at Michigan State, he was the highest selected cornerback in his draft class and also in Vikings history.
He played in Minnesota for 5 years, racking up a total of 7 interceptions and 247 tackles in 74 games. Entering the league as a rookie, he struggled to get many starts in Mike Zimmer’s strong defense. However, in the last 3 years, he has only failed to start 4 times.
Although he’s not a bad player by any means, he just didn’t pan out in Minnesota. At his best, Waynes truly is a top DB in the NFL, but his inconsistency became a problem for the Vikings. Once his rookie deal was up, he signed with the Bengals in free agency.
