‘He’s not a man to fight two rounds’- Deiveson Figueiredo predicts UFC 256 would be no different than UFC 255 and claims he will secure a submission victory over Brandon Moreno

Deiveson Figueiredo claims he will replicate his UFC 255 performance at UFC 256 and will make Brandon Moreno submit in the first-round.

Not many fighters in UFC can say that they have headlined a Pay-Per-View event and then there comes Deiveson Figueiredo who is set to do the same in consecutive PPVs.

The Flyweight champion eased past Alex Perez at UFC 255 and now this week at UFC 256-Which comes precisely 20 days from UFC 255- he will step inside the Octagon again to defend the title against Brandon Moreno. The two fighters will feature in the main event.

At one of the media interactions before UFC 255, Figueiredo tagged Perez as an unworthy challenger, which apparently turned out to be the same, and now as UFC 256 is approaching he has a similar assertion for his opponent to be, Brandon Moreno.

Except a missed weight-cut earlier in the year, the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu expert has had an exceptional year till now. The fighter captured the vacant Flyweight title and has been a recipient of the performance of the night bonuses in succession, with the second one handed out to him personally by the UFC president Dana White. With three clean finishes the fighter is yet to be pushed into third round, and come this Saturday, he thinks nothing will change.

Deiveson Figueiredo claims he will secure a submission victory over Brandon Moreno

In an interview with MMA fighting, the 32-year-old conveyed his thoughts about his upcoming match-up and about his opponent. Alex Perez who was caught by Figueiredo’s agility and submitted after 1-minute and 57 seconds is what Figueiredo deems is tougher than Moreno and thus according to him Moreno will meet the same fate.

“Perez is way tougher than him, no doubt about it,” Figueiredo said of Moreno. “But I’m ready to shut his mouth on the 12th so he doesn’t call me out or talk trash at me on social media again.

“Brandon Moreno comes from a boxing background; he has sharp little boxing, but speaking of jiu-jitsu and takedowns, I see no qualities in him. So it’s an easier match-up for me to fight. I thought Perez’s game was easy, and I think his is way easier.”

Deiveson claims he has a penchant for predicting how his fights will end and believes at UFC he will submit Moreno in the first round.

“(Moreno) will be submitted, I’ll take him down and submit him. First round. He’s not a man to fight two rounds.”
