“I’m going to need some of those cards”: Mavs’ Luka Doncic has a hilarious reaction upon learning that his rookie cards sell for over $50,000
Dallas Mavericks’ star Luka Doncic has a hilarious reaction upon finding out the cost of his rookie cards
Luka Doncic was the 3rd pick of the 2018 NBA Draft. He is in his third season as of now, and is already the team’s undoubted leader. Luka had a stellar start to his NBA career. In his rookie year itself, Luka recorded 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6 assists per game. He won the Rookie of the Year trophy, beating out Hawks’ Trae Young for the top spot.
In his second season in the league, Luka elevated his game to another level. He was considered in the Top 5 for the MVP race. He put up tremendous numbers and led the Mavericks to a playoff spot after a 4-year drought. Luka averaged 28.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 8.8 assists a game.
Luka Doncic finds out the cost of his rookie card
The young Slovenian star was told by Brad Townsend how much his rookie cards are worth. Upon finding out that some of them sold for more than $50k, Luka was surprised. He said even though he isn’t into all that, but he would want some of his cards soon.
Told that some of his rookie cards are selling for $50,000, Luka Doncic says he’s not up on that kind of stuff, but “I’m going to need some of those cards.”

This shouldn’t come as a surprise though. Luka has been performing on an exceptional level ever since his inception into the NBA. The 21-year-old was a big name in the European League before he enrolled for the NBA draft, and has lived up to his potential in the NBA as well. As he keeps improving, the value of those cards would just keep ballooning up.
In 5 Mavs games this season, Luka has averaged 24.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 6.4 assists. He was considered an early MVP favorite and has not disappointed. The Mavs’ youngster needs to find a way to convert his individual excellence into wins for his team though. The Mavericks have a shaky 2-3 record to start the season.
