“Patrick Mahomes is much more accomplished than Michael Jordan at his age”: Kansas City Chiefs CEO compares the NBA’s ‘GOAT’ to his franchise star

The Kansas City Chiefs’ CEO, Clark Hunt says that Patrick Mahomes is much more accomplished at his age than Michael Jordan was.

This coming weekend, the world will be witness to one of either two scensrios: a passing of the torch from Tom Brady to Patrick Mahomes, granted the Chiefs win the Super Bowl; or, Tom Brady proves that he is still the top dog to beat.

Either way, Patrick Mahomes will have solidified himself as the best quarterback in the NFL, regardless of the outcome, come this weekend. At age 25, Mahomes has accomplished what most QBs only dream of. He’s a Super Bowl MVP, has made 3 Pro Bowls, and has made 3 All-Pro teams.

His potential to possibly be the greatest to ever do it in the NFL is what necessitated the need for a contract as magnanimous as the one he received. It seems as though Patrick Mahomes’s biggest fan however, is the Kansas City Chiefs CEO, Clark Hunt.

Clark Hunt claims that his franchise star is better than Michael Jordan

Clark Hunt is all in on Mahomes. After all, he did sign the 2017 draftee to a 10 year/$500 million contract. In an appearance on 610 Sports Radio in Kansas City, Hunt decided to compare Mahomes to perhaps the greatest athlete of all time, Michael Jordan.

“It’s amazing the success that Patrick has had so early in his career. I mean, really more so than Michael Jordan had early in his career. It took Michael a few years before he got his first championship and Patrick in year one had us on the cusp of making the Super Bowl.”

Technically, yes, Patrick Mahomes at 25 years of age has accomplished more than a 25-year-old Michael Jordan. There are however many variables to this.

For starters, the Chicago Bulls surrounded Michael Jordan with little to no talent in the 80s. Jordan was the sole offensive juggernaut on the team and the only reliable one as well. He had a massive workload on his shoulders and no team can be carried to a championship by one player.

Mahomes on the other hand, has been blessed with wide receivers such as Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, who are both nearly unguardable. Mahomes is under the tutelage of head coach Andy Reid, who is one of this generation’s best coaches. With that being said, comparing Michael Jordan’s first few years in the NBA to Mahomes’s in the NFL serves little purpose.
