Perth Scorchers Black Armbands: The players of Perth Scorchers are wearing black armbands in the ongoing BBL 10 final match.

During the final match of the ongoing 10th season of the Big Bash League between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers in Sydney, Sydney Sixers have made a prolific start after being put in to bat by Perth Scorchers captain Ashton Turner.

After wicket-keeper batsman Josh Philippe (9) became victim of a massive mix-up in the powerplay, Sixers opening batsman James Vince took it upon himself to put his team in a strong position.

In what was his 40th half-century in T20s, Vince scored an awe-inspiring 95 (60) with the help of 10 fours and three sixes despite his fellow batsmen not getting among the runs.

Having scored his BBL career-best 98* (53) against Scorchers in Qualifier at the Manuka Oval, Vince registered his seventh BBL half-century when it mattered the most for Sixers.

Perth Scorchers Black Armbands

Perth Scorchers players clearly donning black armbands at the Sydney Cricket Ground have put the fans in a dizzy with respect to the reason behind it. It is worth mentioning that the black armbands have been worn as a mark of respect for former Australia and Western Australia fast bowler Sam Gannon who passed away earlier this morning.

Gannon, 73, had played three Test matches for Australia during India’s tour of Australia in 1977-78. In addition to his 11 wickets at the highest level, Gannon also had 117 and 17 first-class and List A wickets respectively under his belt.

“Australian and Western Australian cricket has lost one of its great leaders in Sam Gannon and, on behalf of everyone at Cricket Australia, we send our sincere condolences to Sam’s family and friends,” Cricket Australia chairman Earl Edding said in a statement.
