‘LeBron James, have you taken the covid-19 vaccine?’: Lakers star responds to reported anti-vaxxer stance ahead of Game 1 vs Suns
LeBron James continues to deflect any and every question related to the Covid-19 vaccine. The Lakers star possibly still hasn’t been vaccinated.
Chris Paul and his Phoenix Suns are going to be a tough first test for the Lakers in these playoffs. There are a multitude of factors that are going to affect the series, not least of which is the Lakers’ health.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis have both missed half the season with leg injuries. James, in particular, looks quite off his usual pace in terms of acceleration and explosiveness. A high ankle sprain of the sort that LeBron is recovering from can often limit players’ fast-twitch movements.
LeBron will still be looking to nurse his way back to full health through the course of this series. He’ll also possibly have to deal with fans questioning if he’s an anti-vaxxer given his Covid-19 vaccination status.
Lakers fans question whether LeBron James is vaccinated yet
Head coach Frank Vogel spoke about his Lakers squad’s vaccination status ahead of their playoff series against the Phoenix Suns. Vogel mentioned that the Lakers are still short of the 85% vaccination threshold.
Frank Vogel says the Lakers’ traveling party has not yet reached the fully vaccinated threshold of 85 percent to have relaxed restrictions but they are “hopeful.” We’re pretty close to the five-to-six week mark since April 16 when a number of Lakers staffers/players got shots.

LeBron James was similarly tight-lipped about his vaccination status when it came up in the pre-series interviews:
“Anything I do off the floor is predicated for my family in the majority – 99.9% of that. So it’s about the health and safety of my family, and that’s what it came down to…anything of that nature is family talk.”
“Me being available to my teammates on the floor is me taking care of my body… Me doing everything I can to make sure I’m available mentally, physically, and spiritually as well.”
When asked to confirm if he’d taken the Covid-19 vaccines, James said ‘Its not that big a deal’.
