“Not worried about LeBron James recruiting Stephen Curry”: Warriors’ owner Joe Lacob does not think that the Lakers’ star can lure the Baby Faced Assassin
Warriors’ majority owner Joe Lacob is not worried about LeBron James recruiting Stephen Curry, says Steph has the right to choose
The Golden State Warriors started the season as major underdogs. There was a lot of noise among ‘analysts’ and NBA pundits alike, each one doubting Stephen Curry and calling him washed. Curry stepped up big time, and proved each and every one of them wrong. Steph was well rested before the season started, and after shedding his rust, he erupted on the league. Curry was terrorizing the league on an everyday basis.
Steph ended the season as the leading scorer and was #3 on the NBA MVP race. He also carried the team to a #8 record, in a season where they were projected to not get beyond the #13 spot. However, as Curry kept getting better, there was more noise about getting Curry on a championship roster again. After the All-Star game, there was a ton of rumors about LeBron James trying to recruit Steph.
Joe Lacob is not worried about ‘others’ recruiting Stephen Curry
In a recent interview with Bleacher Report, Joe Lacob talked about Stephen Curry. The part being discussed in particular was Stephen Curry’s future with the franchise.
Lacob was asked about Brian Windhorst’s comments about LeBron James recruiting Stephen Curry. He said,
“Look, Steph Curry, if he really wanted to leave at the end of his contract, he’s earned the right. I said that with Kevin Durant. I’m still friends with Kevin Durant and I still really like him. And I will always love him for what he did for this franchise. By the way, he took less money when he was here. He really helped us. We were able to get a couple of other players. … Players don’t usually do that and he did that. So I have great respect and admiration for that for Kevin. And I would for Steph no matter what he does, too. He’s done a lot for us, we’ve done a lot for him. I would hope that we provide the environment for him that he wants to be at for the rest of his [career].

From his words, it’s clear that Lacob wants the best for Curry, and would try to provide that in Golden State itself.
