“The Lakers needs to trade Anthony Davis for Damian Lillard”: Colin Cowherd outrageously suggests the Blazers superstar should team up alongside LeBron James in exchange for ‘the Brow’
Colin Cowherd believes the Los Angeles Lakers should trade Anthony Davis for Damian Lillard as the latter is much healthier than Davis.
Much has been said about Damian Lillard and the possibility of his departure from the Portland Trailblazers. The past week or so has not been kind to Neil Olshey and the Blazers front office as they received a ton of flack for hiring Chauncey Billups despite his questionable past. Dame was also on the receiving end of this, much to his chagrin.
Lillard has been doing everything from sending out cryptic tweets, getting into with fans on the Billups debacle, and defending himself for the bench boss’s hiring by subtly throwing Olshey and the Blazers under the buss. This has all led to quite nearly every single NBA team’s fanbase to conjure up a potential trade package for Damian Lillard.
The Lakers severely underperformed this 2021 NBA Playoffs and this was largely due to health concerns from their two superstars: LeBron James and Anthony Davis. To help combat this, Colin Cowherd has a suggestion.
Damian Lillard should be traded to the Lakers for Anthony Davis, according to Colin Cowherd.
Colin Cowherd recently broke down why he feels a straight up trade between the Lakers and the Blazers which dealt with a Damian Lillard for Anthony Davis trade, would be ideal.
“This is not a 5 year league anymore. It’s year-to-year… I would do it tomorrow.”

There are several flaws in this trade with only a few plus points. Yes, Damian Lillard is much more of an ‘iron-man’ than Anthony Davis. Dame has quite nearly never sustained an injury that’s kept him out for an extended period of time. Anthony Davis on the other hand, is quote the injury prone player, as proved by this season.
However, going to the Lakers wouldn’t really be a change in scenery for the Blazers superstar. If he were to do something as drastic as leave Portland, he’d want a chance to legitimately be the favorite to come out of his respective conference. Teaming up with a 37-year-old LeBron James with pieces such as Kyle Kuzma and Dennis Schroder does not seem to be ideal. He would have to be the man in LA, just like he was in Portland.
Moreover, Anthony Davis has expressed on many occasions that he wants to be a Laker for life. He’s even come out recently to say that he didn’t change his jersey number from 3 to 23 because he wanted 3 to be in the rafters at Staples Center one day. Getting rid of a man as committed as that would be a terrible look for a franchise as iconic as the Los Angeles Lakers.
