“This is Formula 1 playing up a bit” – Guenther Steiner confirms if Mick Schumacher will race for Alfa Romeo next season
“This is Formula 1 playing up a bit” – Haas boss Guenther Steiner has laid rest to speculation Mick Schumacher is set to join Alfa Romeo next season.
Of late, rumors have been rife that Mick Schumacher will leave Haas next season. The reigning F2 champion is mostly seen competing with backmarkers and would do well to race for a more competitive team.
But his Haas boss Guenther Steiner has confirmed it’ll be the same line-up of Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin next season. Dismissing all speculation, he gave assurance the announcement will happen very soon.
“These are rumours. This is Formula 1 playing up a bit. At the moment it looks like we will be racing with the same driver pairing next year. We still have to clarify a few details, but everything else is clear. It won’t take long.”
“What is important for Mick to stay in the same team. To bring in a bit of a constant. He knows the people now, he knows our processes. I think he also likes to be part of the team. That’s why nothing speaks against him being with us remains.”
@ScuderiaFerrari https://t.co/xYUGw5O5A1 was put in the Ferrari cockpit after only a year, but I don’t quite understand why you want to take so much time at Mick Schumacher. What’s he supposed to do at Haas? ,just drive the field behind it?

Haas to improve next season
Haas has been the poorest team on the grid this season, declining further from last season. But Steiner is optimistic they are going to come stronger in 2022, and compete strongly against the likes of Alfa Romeo and Williams.
“We’ll have a better car. How good, I don’t know yet. I’m confident that it will be okay. At the moment, nothing speaks against the fact that we won’t be as good or better as Alfa Romeo.”
