“Those who’re not getting vaccinated are a**holes”: Charles Barkley minces no words while calling for NBA, NFL and other major leagues to make Covid-19 vaccination mandatory
Charles Barkley calls for the NBA, NFL and the major leagues to make Covid-19 vaccinations mandatory for their players.
The fight against the Covid-19 pandemic has been a long and protracted one. It continues to rage unabated across the world even today. One would think that countries with Covid-19 vaccines available have been successful in quelling the threat. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case.
The USA began a fast-paced vaccination drive aimed at providing at least 1 dose of Covid-19 vaccines within 100 days of the Biden term. The initial progress in this venture was quite notable. The government was able to administer over 200 million shots within the stipulated hundred days.
However, since that time, progress on the vaccination front has been unnaturally slow. Despite widespread availability of the Pfizer and Modern vaccines, a large chunk of the nation’s population remains skeptical about taking it.

Less than 50% of Americans are fully vaccinated as the delta variant has begun its spread across the nation. Over 88,000 new cases were confirmed nationwide in 1 day this past week. 49 states across the nation saw an uptick in cases.
“The only people who’re not getting vaccinated are a**holes”: Charles Barkley
NBA legend Charles Barkley was recently asked his opinion about the NFL’s Covid-19 policies for the upcoming season. The 58-year-old clarified his own vaccination status and went on to lambast those who aren’t taking it:
“Yes, I’m vaccinated. Everybody should be vaccinated. Period. The only people who are not vaccinated are just a–holes,”
“Can you imagine if one of these guys that are not vaccinated, if they get one of these players’ kids, wives, girlfriends, moms and dads sick and they die over some unnecessary conspiracy bulls—? I think that would be tragic.”
Barkley says playing in a professional sports league is just like having a corporate job.
“There’s s— you can’t do at work and there’s s— that have to do at work. So every workplace has rules and I think one of the rules [should be] that guys have to be vaccinated.”
Barkley’s comments are especially relevant because of the response within the NFL to their 2021-22 Covid protocols. There’s a stark difference between the protocols for vaccinated and unvaccinated players.
The likes of DeAndre Hopkins, among others, have spoken up defiantly.
