“Fire Jeff Saturday”: NFL Analyst Steve Smith Sr. Is Furious With Colts’ Interim Coach After Disastrous Loss Against Vikings

For Jeff, Saturday wasn’t a good day. When he was hired as a head coach without any prior coaching experience in the NFL, CFL, or college football earlier this year, the former Indianapolis Colts center made headlines.

In the end, interim coaches are typically just that—interim. However, former All-Pro wide receiver Steve Smith thinks Indianapolis Colts head coach Jeff Saturday’s time should come sooner than usual, and he wants him to be the first interim coach to be fired during the season.

After the shocking defeat, Saturday criticized the “undisciplined football” played by the unit. “Teams like this cannot be allowed to remain in the game, and we simply committed too many penalties on both sides of the ball. Again, there are many people to blame.”

Jeff Saturday Is In Deep Trouble

Soon after the Indianapolis Colts found themselves on the wrong side of history, Smith, who is currently an NFL Network analyst, shared his opinion on the head coach of the team. To complete the biggest comeback in NFL history, the Minnesota Vikings overcame a 33-point halftime deficit, shocking Saturday and the Colts 32-28 in overtime.

His Indianapolis Colts team was up 33-0 against the Minnesota Vikings and appeared to be headed for an easy victory. The Vikings came out in the second half and went on a 36-3 run to tie the score at 36 and force overtime, which altered the course of the game.

Just three points were scored in the second half as the Colts’ offence collapsed. The Colts’ dismal record of 4-9-1 and elimination from playoff contention came as a result of the devastating loss.

In his post-game press conference, Saturday tried his best to put the defeat behind him as soon as possible.”Losing hurts. It hurts every time we lose,” he said as per Colts website on Saturday. “I see this as being similar to the others. The opportunities that are lost aggravate you.”

The Colts’ shocking loss to the Vikings comes just one week after they let the Dallas Cowboys score 33 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. Saturday and the Colts lost four straight games to drop to 4-9-1 after winning his coaching debut against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 10.
