There is no denying that Dirk Nowitzki is a Dallas Mavericks legend. The German superstar suited up for the Texas-based franchise for more than two decades.

During his 21-year stint with the Mavericks, the 7-footer led the franchise to 15 playoff appearances, 2 Western Conference Finals appearances, and even won the organization their only NBA championship.

Apart from being an NBA champ, the sharpshooter built up quite an impressive resume for himself – 1 MVP, 1 FMVP, 14 All-Star appearances, and 12 All-NBA selections.

After the conclusion of a stellar career, Nowitzki has been rewarded well. Apart from being a member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team, Dirk got his jersey retired by the Mavs, and was even awarded his own statue outside the American Airlines Center.

NBA Twitter reacts to Dirk’s statue

On Christmas Day, right before the Mavericks-Lakers tip-off, Mark Cuban unveiled the Dirk Nowitzki statue.

As soon as the statue was unveiled, NBA Twitter blew up with various reactions.

Of course, it was a pretty emotional day for Nowitzki.

The legend was super thankful for everyone who showed up at the ceremony. And after the conclusion of the same, Dirk had a special message for all his fans and Dallas supporters:

“Look at this thing in the sun. It looks stunning. Thank you guys for all your support. Look how many people showed up. It was super special, super emotional and this thing right here will be there forever. So, thank you guys for all the support.”
