Virat Kohli opens up on his fitness before England tour
Virat Kohli and the Indian team are gearing up for the long England tour, one that consists of 2 T20I’s against Ireland, a 3 match ODI and T20I series against England, followed by the gruelling 5 match Test series.
The Indian team is slated to leave for Ireland tomorrow and play their first T20 game against the hosts on the 27th of this month.
Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri addressed the media today before leaving for Ireland answering some very important questions that the media wanted answers too.
First and foremost was how Virat Kohli’s neck injury was presently and if he had recovered completely before the UK tour.
Kohli had suffered a slight neck injury during the IPL, one that had ruled him out of the county stint that he had opted for.
Kohli had planned a county stint with Surrey just before the England tour so as to acclimatise himself with the English conditions, a country that he is yet to conquer.
The Indian captain has provided his fans with some good news as he has admitted that he is 100% fit and raring to go in England.
“I’m 100 percent fit; the neck is fine. I’m having six to seven sessions and that kind of practice is boding perfectly well for me,” Kohli said in the press conference.
Earlier reports had stated that maybe Kohli would opt out of the Ireland T20s and Rohit Sharma would lead India in Ireland.
However, Kohli has cleared the air with his statement about his fitness and will be hoping to break his England hoodoo.
